2019 MIRA International Toronto Conference a huge success

November 2019 saw MIRA hold its second international conference in Toronto (the first being in London in 2017).  The event, held over two days, was attended by almost 200 professionals from the mining and insurance industries including mining C-Suite executives and risk managers, insurance brokers, Insurers and Reinsurers, loss adjusters, lawyers, forensic accountants, engineers, and other industry specialists.  Not only did we have unprecedented support from a wide cross-section of companies and professions, but they came from around the globe (we had attendance from all six inhabited continents).  Topics discussed included sustainable mining issues, loss lessons and problematic claims, self-insurance, business interruption issues, gearless motor drives and mill integrity, corporate and social responsibility, environmental rehabilitation liabilities, and of course tailings management.
